Half the tables are bookable, Half for “walk-ins”.
This is top notch Italian at reasonable prices. The quality of the food is well above your expectations of a “chain” restaurant. Good selection of Gluten Free dishes. There’s a deli too, with the best parma ham in town.

This small chain’s Brighton outpost is probably the most impressive restaurant in the city! A visually stunning venue with good service and great classic French brasserie food. We return again and again to eat our way through the Menu!

Jamie’s Italian @ 11 Black Lion Street, The Lanes VG

This place competes very well with Carluccio’s on price, quality of ingredients and taste, with a good range of Italian dishes given the Jamie Oliver treatment. Very tasty food prepared in open kitchens by friendly and knowledgable staff. They’ve got a good lively bar, or you can wait in a pub down the street and they’ll page you when your table’s ready.

Brighton's branch of the growing chain set up by former Masterchef winner Thomasina Myers. I thought I didn't rate Mexican cuisine, but I loved what we had at Wahaca: it was all so fresh and tasty. Good service in a buzzing environment.
Meat Liquor @ 22 York Place G

High quality burger joint which is ridiculously hip and cool, full of trendy young types in the evenings. Good cocktail list at £7.50. Mains are great, but I found the side dishes over-priced (but still very tasty!)

The Giggling Squid @ 11 Market Street, The Lanes G
T: 01273 737373 – W: www.gigglingsquid.com/branches/brighton.html
Good, authentic Thai. Basic but calming “driftwood” décor, and excellent, really delicious food. The Jungle Herb Salad is superb and hot. Not everything is spicy though (try the fantastic stuffed squid). They do a great Thai tapas menu at lunchtime.
